The Polish Wandoo Finance Group is behind the Swaper platform. It offers P2P lending to private individuals over relatively short periods. Investments are made in three countries: Spain, Poland, and Denmark.
How to invest on Swaper
Both registration and login are easy and intuitive. First, you enter some personal details, such as your name and email address, to create an account. You then need to verify your identity using a document in order to deposit money. Usually, your ID card is used for this purpose.
Money is paid in via SEPA transfer or TransferWise. Other options such as credit cards are not currently available. You can find the payment details in your account. It is also important to enter the correct reference so that your money can be allocated to your account.
You can, of course, withdraw your freely available capital. The money is always available if it is not invested in a loan agreement. The terms are usually up to 30 days and are therefore quite manageable. There is also a secondary market swaper available should you ever need to sell.
Auto-invest function on Swaper
The Auto-Invest feature helps investors save time while still investing in specific lending according to pre-set parameters. This allows each investor to pursue their own strategy. This is particularly useful for short-term consumer lending, as they are largely similar and would take a long time to search for manually. You can use the following data to specify which strategy you want to pursue:

Collateral and risk of swaps
Swaper offers a secondary market where you can sell lending early. Unlike Bondora, there are no premiums or discounts, so you can’t trade with these features. This feature is more useful for emergencies, as the lending terms are very short anyway.
Another practical feature for investors is the buy-back guarantee, which means Swaper eliminates the default risk for its investors. This comes into effect if the repayment of lending is delayed by more than 30 days. The lender then buys back your lending and you receive the full investment amount back. Unfortunately, it was not possible to find information on Swaper about how often borrowers are unable to meet their obligations.
In general, investments in P2P lending are risky. Risk management can be improved by diversifying your portfolio sufficiently and investing in different lendings. The increased risk also brings with it the potential for high returns of 14 per cent per annum.
Taxes at Swaper
All profits from P2P platforms are taxable. The tax-free allowance is €801; amounts below this are tax-free. However, if you earn more than this, you must submit a tax return so that your profits are taxed fairly. Swaper supports this process under the ‘Account statements’ section, where you can view all the necessary information. This makes it easy for you to read the required data and submit it to the tax office.
