Conclusion: Why I invest in Mintos
The platform offers several advantages and disadvantages. During the coronavirus pandemic, some investors lost money, which could happen again in future economic crises.
Nevertheless, it seems as though the platform has learned from its mistakes. I will definitely continue to invest with Mintos and keep an eye on the recoveries. It has happened before that recovery procedures have taken several months or even years. Nevertheless, Mintos has emerged stronger from the crisis and has significantly improved areas such as communication.
In February 2021, Mintos’ lending volume already stood at €105 million, making it the European market leader in P2P lending. This shows that Mintos is a large and experienced provider that has also weathered the coronavirus pandemic.
Security and risks of Mintos
Investors from all over the world invest by offering loans to private individuals. The average return on Mintos is 11 percent. As with other financial investments, these high returns are due to the potential risks involved.
To increase security, Mintos offers a 60-day buyback guarantee. This means that investors must buy back loans that are 60 days past due. This is the reason why some investors experienced problems during the coronavirus crisis. Nevertheless, the platform continued to show strong growth.
Every investor must be able to realistically assess how high their losses are likely to be in the event of an emergency. Two important indicators on Mintos help to assess the risk. Lenders are rated on the platform. The interest rate offered also says a lot about the risk of the respective loan. The lenders are given a score from 1 to 10, with 10 being the best and 1 the worst. Currently, there are no lenders rated 1, 2 or 3 on Mintos. These rating measures make it easier for investors to find a loan that suits their individual needs.
Auto-Invest at Mintos
Like some of its competitors, Mintos offers an auto-invest feature. This means that investors specify a number of selection criteria and Mintos searches for suitable loans based on this data. This allows investors to continue pursuing their own strategy while spending less time on the platform.
Various data can be entered here, such as risk exposure based on the risk score or whether a buyback guarantee is desired. Terms and interest rates can also be selected, allowing everyone to find a suitable loan.
I have been investing with Mintos for five years now and will continue to do so. It is only natural that high interest rates of around 11 per cent do not come for free and that you have to be prepared to take on a certain amount of risk. In general, you should always remember to prepare for crises and take this into account when making investments that involve risk.
Despite the potential risks, I have achieved good returns on average with Mintos in recent years. That should be the most important point. With Mintos, you have an experienced, large provider at your side who has gained further experience through the coronavirus pandemic.
